CO2 emission rights can be traded like any other commodity. According to the World Bank, more than 6.3 billion European CO2 emission rights were traded in 2009; this represents a value of $ 118 billion. Third Bridge CO2 Investment Fund I is targeted at individuals who appreciate a high risk, high return investment opportunity. The Fund is managed by Gerhard Mulder, who has 15 years of emissions trading experience and who was previously employed by ABN Amro bank in the Netherlands.
The investment strategy is based on the view that European CO2 emission rights will increase in value over the next five years as the regulatory regime will become stricter. The Fund aims to achieve a 15-20 % annual return; the investment period is five years (starting March 2011). One European CO2 emission right currently trades at around EUR 15; this price has been stable since April 2009. The main question is, where will prices go when the rules will become stricter, particularly after 2012?
Participation in the Fund is currently by invitation only. For more information, please contact us.
